Hostýn is an important Marian pilgrimage site in the Hostýnské vrchy hills, protected as a national cultural monument. It is dominated by the Baroque Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary with a water chapel and a unique Stations of the Cross designed by Dušan Jurkovič. At the top of the hill stands a stone observation tower with the Chapel of the Holy Cross and a modern wind turbine. Hostýn has a rich history, dating back to prehistoric times when a large fortified settlement stood here.
